2019 Eagle Mountain Lake Parade of Lights

October 31, 2019

SEML, West Bay Marina & Eagle Mountain Landing Cafe & Bar, Harbor One Marina and The Lakehouse, along with Tow BoatUS, Eagle Mountain lake & Boatworx are hosting the 20a9 Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 30th.  The Parade of Lights will include prizes for Best Decorated Boat in three categories and best Crew Costume.  The proceeds from participation and voting will benefit Save Eagle Mountain Lake, Inc., 501 (C)(3) nonprofit.

This year the festivities will begin a little earlier than normal.  The parade will begin at West Bay Marina.  Walter assures us he will have plenty of dockage and water for all the boats, but we need the boats registered by the 11/26 to get this done.  Eagle Mountain Landing Cafe & Bar to have a hors d'oeuvres buffet for $8 per person if pre-purchased with entry fee, or $10 per person the day of.  Jay said he would shoot for some live music while people make last minute preparations.  In addition, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be on hand for Vessel Safety Inspections.

This is where the first of five rounds of judging will take place.  Judging will be conducted at West bay Marina, Sammy's, FWBC, Augie's and The Lakehouse.  Each establishment will provide four resident judges.  The total cumulative scores reported from each judging location will determine the overall winners.  The number of trophies or prizes (TBD) depends on the number of entrants in each class, but it should go three deep.  Also new this year, open voting in support of SEML.  We will award a Popular Vote Award.  Each location will have a Popular Vote Jar.  For a dollar a vote, customers can cast a vote for their favorite boat overall.  For each vote, you will receive a raffle ticket for a door prize (TBD).  Vote as many times as you like!

The parade will start departing the marina at 1715.  The route will take us north of Hogsett Island to a lighted buoy to starboard and then back south.  Just before Lakeview there will be another lighted bouy to leave to part just before leaving Sammy's and Lakeview Marina to part about 1755.  Sammy's will be hoisting a judging party.  Robert at Sammy's is also shooting for some live music and parade specials.  We will be leaving the Fort Worth Angler's Club to starboard about 1810.  From the Angler's Club, go easterly towards Ranch House Slough to leave a lighted buoy to starboard at the end of shoal off Church Point.  From there, continue south leaving Pelican Island at least 100 yards to starboard.  We arrive at the Fort Worth Boat Club about 1835, leaving it to port.  We will make a short turn to the east in front of the club leaving "E"mark to starboard, which will be lighted, then turn SW to "S" mark, again lighted.  We will leave "S" mark to port and head south towards Eagle Mountain Marina entrance, turn back NE leaving Augies to starboard about 1900.  From there leave Burgess Point to starboard and head east to Carter Slough.

After leaving Baptist Point to starboard, enter Carter Slough along the south shore and make a counter clockwise route along the shoreline to starboard leaving Carter Point to starboard and turn north towards "J" Dock and Dossier Slough.  The parade will finish in the back of Dossier Slough. Please use this area to mil about and show off your lights while people are getting moored in Harbor One.  If you are preregistered, we are going to do all we can to fit everyone in the marina.  Again, that is why it is very important to preregister so we can make a docking plan to accommodate everyone.

This course should take 2 hours and 50 minutes at 5 knots faster if we can keep everyone at 6 knots.  We will assign boats throughout the parade who will be helping keep the pace.  I know this is a littler longer than normal, but the feedback we have received so far says "do it!"

This is where I could really use some help from sponsors.  We already have several Admiral sponsors, but we need sponsors donating at the $100 and $200 levels to donate (again, tax deductible), merchandise, gift certificates or provided service for prizes.  As well, an Admiral sponsor may split up a donation between check, merchandise, gift certificate or provided service to help with prizes.
